Since first introduced in 1818, Frankenstein has spawned a number of variations...er...mutations, including goofy ones: breakfast cereal spokes-monster Franken Berry leaps to mind. As Halloween approaches, TheSmogBlog chooses to celebrate the zany Frankenstein-ish monster on the mid-90s after-school Fox-Kids show Big Bad Beetleborgs. Frankenbeans — described by TV Guide as a “hulking stitched-up thing” — was brought to life by “actor” David Fletcher, who, according to the producers, got the role because a minimal amount of makeup would be required. Frankenbeans Thursday is less serious than and comes a day before Frankenstein Friday (last Friday of October), a more serious Halloween threat.
